Nate replied on September 18, 2009 04:20 to the question "How do I synchronize bookmarks?" in Xmarks:
Hey David,
Thanks for the update. If an upload is not going through, you have two options. The first option is to go to my.xmarks.com and add whatever bookmarks that are missing on our servers, and then perform the download. Looking at your logfile, it seems like you have a very large bookmark set, and that would be to much time.
The second option would be to export our bookmarks to an HTML file, create a new Firefox profile, and then import them back into your new profile. To import/export your bookmark set, you can go here:
Firefox->Bookmarks->Organize Bookmarks->Import and Backup
To create a new profile, follow the directions here:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/M...
Hopefully that helps!
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Nate

Hey Ross,
It sounds like you've got a corrupted Firefox profile, with the behavior you're experiencing. I'd suggest creating a new Firefox profile with the directions here:

Let me know how it goes!
Thanks,

Hey David,
Thanks for the logfile. I suspect that a manual download will clear your sync issues. This will overwrite your browser bookmarks, so make sure that what is on our servers mirrors what you have in your browser. You can check them at my.xmarks.com. Once you're satisfied with what is on our servers, you can perform a download here:
Firefox->Tools->Xmarks Settings->Advanced->Download
If you've never successfully synchronized to our servers, then I'd suggest performing an Upload, which will overwrite our (blank) servers with what is in your browser. After that is completed, then perform the download, and you should be all set.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks,
Nate

Hey Tim,
Were you able to get through the setup wizard after clicking "Almost done?" If you've already gone through the setup wizard, and the "almost done" window is still displaying, you've probably got a corrupted Firefox profile. You can create a new one here:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/M...
Let me know how that goes.

Nate replied on September 15, 2009 03:23 to the question "Xmarks for Firefox - just not there?" in Xmarks:
Hey Madger,
Xmarks should be listed in Firefox-Tools as wel as Firefox->Tools-Add ons. If it's not listed there, you might have a corrupted Firefox profile that may be hindering the installation. Directions for creating a new profile are here:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/M...

Nate replied on September 15, 2009 03:02 to the question "How do I synchronize bookmarks?" in Xmarks:
Hey Roger,
Have you installed Xmarks for Firefox? You can download and install it here:
http://download.xmarks.com/download/f...
Follow the on screen directions, and then restart Firefox. There will be a window displaying "Almost Done," and clicking that will start the setup wizard.
Login with your Xmarks account, and follow the wizard directions and once that is complete, you'll be synchronizing your bookmarks to our servers. If you have multiple computers, just repeat the process on each computer.
I hope that helps, and let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Nate

Hey Thomas,
Thanks for the detailed post. Can you try a manual download? This will overwrite your browser bookmarks with what is currently on our servers, so make sure to double check my.xmarks.com before doing so. You can perform a download here:
IE->Tools->Xmarks Settings->Advanced->Download
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Nate
Nate replied on September 01, 2009 05:49 to the praise "Show a screen of a site in searches" in Xmarks:
Hey Gian,
If you're not seeing your website on xmarks.com, similiar sites, or smarter search, it means that your website hasn't been bookmarked and synchronized enough. Gather as many friends as possible to bookmark and sync your website with Xmarks, and your site will eventually generate Xmarks discovery data. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Nate
Nate replied on September 01, 2009 03:54 to the question "Which computer is the master bookmark generator?" in Xmarks:
Hey Dennis,
There isn't an actual setting that sets a master/slave relationship, but it's the way you sync with our server. Our default sync type is a merge, which will merge your two computer's contents on our servers. Auto-sync and "sync now" will accomplish this.
Our Advanced sync types are Upload and Download. An Upload will overwrite what is on our servers with what is in your browser. A Download will overwrite what is in your browser with what is on our servers. You can perform them here:
Xmarks Settings->Advanced->Upload/Download
Depending on your situation and what you'd like to accomplish, these three sync types will help you to do so. Let me know if you have any additional questions!
Thanks,
Nate
