Eric set one of Eric's replies as an official response to "javascript links don't work after Foxmarks upgraded to Xmarks" in Xmarks
Eric replied on November 20, 2009 18:26 to the question "stack overflow at line 9" in Xmarks:
Thanks for bringing this to our attention! We've had at least one other report of this behavior, but we haven't been able to get the same error on our end. Can you provide a screenshot of the "stack overflow" error?
We'll work on fixing that link as well, but in the meantime you can just login at http://login.xmarks.com/
Thanks!

Sorry for the lack of activity on this thread; we're pretty sure now that the problem is with the .NET extension that Microsoft installed in Firefox under Windows. Uninstalling that extension seems to fix things from what we've seen--instructions for doing so can be found here:

Eric made a comment on "Archives only lead to 500 server error!", but it was removed. see the change log
A comment on the problem "Archives only lead to 500 server error!" in Xmarks:
Fixed for you as well. We had a problem previously with FastDial folders getting set as bookmarks, which confused the sync server. I'm not quite sure where the problem is coming from (from FastDial, or some strange interaction between that extension and Xmarks?), but we're gradually getting the data cleaned up.
Let us know if you have any further problems restoring! – Eric, on November 09, 2009 23:55
Eric replied on October 13, 2009 20:00 to the problem "Gettgin Server Error 500 When adding new bookmarks/URLs" in Xmarks:
Sorry for the frustration! I think this happens if you add a bookmark as "www.xmarks.com" instead of including the http:// on it. We've got an internal bug report open on this and hope to have it fixed, but for now if you just enter new bookmarks with the prefixed http://, that should get it to work for you.

A comment on the problem "Someone else's passwords from the other side of the planet just appeared in my sync'd password list. HOW?" in Xmarks:
It'll take some doing, but we'll dig up some information for you. I'll follow up via the email you sent to our support address. – Eric, on October 07, 2009 20:30

A comment on the problem "Someone else's passwords from the other side of the planet just appeared in my sync'd password list. HOW?" in Xmarks:
If your Xmarks information were obtained by someone else who then tried your password and PIN in their browser to see if it worked, they might inadvertently insert their data into yours (or perhaps even intentionally, I suppose).
We'll investigate further on our end as well; I just wanted to make sure you understood the possible ramifications, which it sounds like you do. – Eric, on October 07, 2009 05:16
Eric replied on October 06, 2009 22:49 to the problem "Someone else's passwords from the other side of the planet just appeared in my sync'd password list. HOW?" in Xmarks:
Thanks very much for bringing this to our attention--this is very much something we'd like to investigate further. Is your Xmarks username the same as the username you're using here on Get Satisfaction?
Though we've never seen evidence that Xmarks was used to compromise computer data, we've seen examples of a computer virus used to extract information from the Firefox password file when it's not encrypted with a Master Password, and that information then posted online. Given that your PIN would be required to synchronize new passwords to your account, and Xmarks in no way has access to your PIN, chances are something like this has happened to you.
Though I don't want to alarm you, it is safest to assume that your passwords have been compromised, and that your computer is currently not a safe place to store personal information. I strongly encourage you to contact a computer support technician for assistance in re-securing your computer and its data.
As part of that, be sure to update your Xmarks password and PIN once you've established a secure computer (no sense in updating the password and PIN if the computer is still compromised).
A comment on the problem "login.foxmarks.com:443 uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed. (Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)" in Xmarks:
RandomSpam: If the certificate is displaying as fortinet, then you're probably accessing Xmarks through a proxy server that isn't forwarding SSL connections properly. I'd encourage you to stop using that proxy, if at all possible. – Eric, on October 01, 2009 23:49

Eric replied on October 01, 2009 21:25 to the question "Why does Xmarks keep telling me that a file has been synced on another computer, when in fact this is not the case?" in Xmarks:
Baoyu's solution is actually a little bit scorched earth; you should be able to remedy the warning by simply merging the bookmarks. The message simply indicates that the server's version of bookmarks might be divergent from what's in your browser, so by merging you ensure that there'll be no data loss.
If the error persists, I'd suggest checking your bookmarks at https://my.xmarks.com/ and if they look okay there, just do a download.
A comment on the problem "constant local / server conflict" in Xmarks:
Sorry for the trouble--what happened when you tried the manual upload that Nate suggested above? – Eric, on October 01, 2009 18:44
A comment on the idea "iPhone Mobile Formarks won't keep me login" in Xmarks:
Sorry for the confusion, Rich -- my.xmarks.com/iphone is an iPhone-enhanced version of the website, so you simply visit it in your Safari browser on the iPhone, there's no app to install. – Eric, on September 29, 2009 00:21
Nobu's reply to "Uninstalled Xmarks extension for Chrome, how do I redownload it?" was just promoted to the most useful! Eric and 2 other people think it's one of the best replies.
Chrome dev-channel: http://dev.chromium.org/getting-invol...
Alpha Xmarks Chrome extension: http://beta.xmarks.com/program/chrome
All else fails, you can go to http://beta.xmarks.com/ , go to the bottom (where it says Xmarks for Chrome Alpha) and click on the "get started" button/link, and you'll be at the same page. You'll have to log in before you can access those pages, though.
